Teaching Bioinformatics Using Journals is an acivity designed to help students learn the real world applications of bioinformatics and current research in genomics.  It also gives students the opportunity to learn how to read a scientific journal.  After completing this activity students will have several strategies to read and better understand a scientific journal. Exploring the Neuroscience of the Human Brain Using Bioinformatics

What is the structure and function of the nervous system? How do you use bioinformatics relational databases to explore biological molecules?  Students will explore the Genes 2 Cognition website and then chose a particular molecule to investigate further.  Students will use a variety of resources, including OMIM, NCBI, Allen Brain Atlas, Ensemble, and Entrez.
